Data organization

The SOF public data are released in data files organized by study visit and category. For example, data from visit 3 pertaining to cognitive function will be stored together in a single data file. There are total 8 visits for the main Caucasian cohort (visit abbreviation: V1, V2, V3, V4, V5, V6, V7, and V8) and 3 visits for African American cohort (visit abbreviation: AA, V7 and V8). In addition to regular clinic visits, participants were also contacted by phone interview at 1 year (first annual) and 3 years (third annual) after baseline. Because of the similarity and short time interval between the questions asked at the annual phone interview and those asked at the regular visit, we combined 1st annual questions into the Visit 1 (baseline) data files and 3rd annual questions into the Visit 3 data files.

Data files are available in SAS transport file format (version 6.12 compatible).
